Our Review:
Finding great bean to cup coffee machines is
all about finding good value for money these days and so far, in all the reviews we’ve done, we’ve found that
De’Longhi offer both quality and a great price. If you’re looking for your first bean to cup coffee machine then this one is brilliant and
should be ideal for your needs. Having done quite a bit of research we found that this machine offered the best
value for money and had a lot of excellent customer reviews overall.
Most bean to cup coffee machines, that you see
on the market, are well above £300 and some of the options we looked at came in at around £800. If you aren’t a
huge coffee drinker and don’t really feel that your palette warrants spending over £800 then this machine is
ideal. That’s not to say that it’s a poor quality machine – quite the contrary. However, if you don’t think
you’d taste the difference of a much more expensive machine then this is a great option. It’s also ideal if you
are just testing the waters and aren’t too sure about what to buy – it’s cheap enough to be a great starter
machine.
The
Positives
-
As bean to cup coffee machines should, it makes an awesome
espresso
-
The water reservoir is big enough to last quite a long
time
-
It’s very stylish and offers itself as a nice addition to
any kitchen
-
You get a holder that can make one or two
cups
-
It’s not too cumbersome and is very easy to clean because
of this
-
It’s not ridiculously noisy – everyone knows making
espresso is never a quiet process though!
-
It’s quite quick – you can make your first cup in less
than a minute or two and following cups are made quicker due to the machine already being
warm
The
Negatives
-
There is a cup heater on the top of the machine but to be
honest this is only useful if you’re making more than two or three cups of coffee
-
There are a few plastic parts which suggest that it’s not
as high quality as other (all metal) bean to cup coffee machines
-
The buttons are a little bit flimsy but are likely to last
quite a while without any trouble
-
There is only space for the smaller espresso cups, so if
you want a larger cup you may have to remove the grill to fit it under the spout
-
The distribution isn’t always equal if you’re making more
than one cup of espresso
-
One thing about this machine is that you have to stand
with it while it makes the coffee – you have to stop the coffee making process yourself and therefore
you are unable to leave it be
However, the last point there actually means
you aren’t stuck to default coffee sizes. With most bean to cup coffee machines that are push and leave, you end
up with a standard size cup. With this you can choose how big a cup you would like – which is actually a
bonus!
Overall, this machine is certainly worth the
money and is an ideal starting machine. Bean to cup coffee machines these days aren’t always easy to use but
this one makes it nice and simple and is actually very attractive. We’d highly recommend this to anyone looking
for their first proper bean to cup coffee machine.
